To reduce teen homelessness and violence by providing each individual in our care a safe, therapeutic living environment, by producing functional, nurturing families and helping to create safe, empowered communities. Our programs include Soup for the Soul, a weekly soup kitchen for neighborhood residents and neighboring women and children shelters; and an annual Feed the Neighborhood community event that provides over a hundred families a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner every year. DJNYS also currently operates a temporary residence for male DCFS wards aged 14-21 who otherwise would be homeless. We provide them with supportive services and therapeutic care in a home-like setting.
