The Jazz Institute of Chicago (JIC) preserves and perpetuates jazz in all its forms through the creation of new jazz music, sustaining active artists, nurturing new talent and developing new audiences for jazz, especially for Chicago jazz artists. For over 40 years, The Jazz Institute of Chicago (JIC) has fulfilled its mission by serving as a foundation of support for the creation of new jazz music, sustaining active artists, nurturing new talent and developing new audiences for jazz especially for Chicago jazz artists. Free concert and education programs connect a vital American art form to the people whose lives and histories helped to create it and provide access for over 256,500 people in person and another 160,000 over the airwaves. We undertake these endeavors because we want to ensure that new audiences continue to be developed for the music, and that Chicago's place in its history be recognized and presented.
