The Conferences are using science as diplomacy and as a bridge to peace and stability in the Middle East. In addition, it strives to improve the relationship between the Muslim world and the U.S., and between the Arabs, Iranians, and Israelis. This is accomplished by bringing scientists from 15 Middle Eastern countries together with 5 to 6 Nobel Laureates and other distinguished scientists. These scientists collaborate on issues of environment, energy, and education, all of which require cross-border collaboration.Many of these scientists cannot meet otherwise face-to-face because their governments are hostile to each other. The Malta Conferences are the only platform where all these countries can develop friendships, trust, collaborations, and a favorable environment for working towards peace and security.
