Founded in 1931, The Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) is one of the oldest community music schools in Illinois and was the first in the state to be accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (the same body that accredits college and university music departments). We believe that the enjoyment and knowledge of music and the development of skills in creating and performing music enhance learning across the curriculum, quality of life and nourish the human spirit.
