Planting Justice

Planting Justice is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Oakland with a mission to democratize access to affordable nutritious food by empowering urban residents with the skills, resources, and knowledge to grow organic food, expand economic opportunities, and ensure environmental sustainability in our neighborhoods. Planting Justice trains and employs formerly incarcerated men and at-risk youth to transform the yards of both full-paying clients and subsidized low-income households into productive and beautiful gardens (including chicken coops, bee hives, rainwater catchment systems, greywater systems, perennial food forests, annual vegetable production, herb spirals, composting systems, and more).
