The Firebelly Foundation was founded in January of 2007 and six months later launched its first pilot program Reason To Give, an innovative web store where shoppers can directly purchase the basic needs of Chicago's Humboldt Park community. Reason To Give provides low-income families, schools, and small organizations in Chicago's Humboldt Park community with basic necessities purchased from responsible retailers. Reason To Give's innovative online storefront makes donating simple and direct. Through the website, potential donors can view video interviews of participants explaining their situations and needs, donate towards those needs from a list of basic items, and then check back to watch a follow up video success story. Participants in the Reason to Give program also attend expert facilitated life skills workshops that focus on a range of topics from resume writing and financial planning to starting a home-based business and computer training.

As a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization, Reason to Give is eligible to receive at least 70% of the referral fee when you use Investing In Communities (IIC) to sign up with ANY real estate broker to handle your residential or commercial property transaction. Referral fees are a common expense paid by brokers only to other brokers for much desired referrals. As a licensed broker with a charitable mission, IIC is able to accept referral fees and pass most of those funds to your charity of choice - at no cost to you.
