Buying, Selling, & Leasing Can Help People With Disabilities Play Golf

Freedom Golf Association (FGA) is breaking down the barriers for people with all sorts of disabilities by including them in the game of golf. As a member of Investing In Communities®, FGA  can receive funding as a result of nearly any brokered real estate transaction – home sales, home purchases, and commercial leases. By using this free platform, supporters can contribute to FGA’s mission of helping people with disabilities experience freedom, inclusion, rehabilitation, and accomplishment through golf.

Founded in 2012, FGA golf programs have given thousands of free golf lessons to Illinois people with disabilities. Each year, FGA trains new adaptive golf instructors, gets people with disabilities out on golf courses, and evaluates local golf courses for ways to make them more accessible for everyone. FGA serves people with every kind of disability:

  • Physical;
  • Intellectual or Developmental;
  • Neurological;
  • Impaired Vision; and
  • Disabled Veterans (including those suffering from PTSD).

Freedom Golf Association connects the disabled with golf equipment, such as customized adaptive golf clubs, which can often be expensive and hard to come by. FGA golf programs have made a splash over the years in the Illinois communities that they touch, giving veterans with amputations and special olympic gold medalists like Maria Meyer a chance to take their place on the golf course.

ADA Counseling

FGA wants to get everyone involved with their mission. For golf courses looking to grow their clientele and also interested in becoming more special-needs accessible, FGA offers ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) counseling to help organizations understand how they can grow their business, while becoming more inclusive at the same time.

Golf Clinics

Whether they are looking to take up golf for the first time or to improve their game, there are FGA golf clinics available for people with all sorts of special needs. FGA offers training to golfers interested in learning how to teach golf to people with disabilities.

Disabled Golf Equipment

For many disabled would-be golfers, knowing how and where to start is the biggest obstacle. The FGA can help the disabled find golf equipment that suits their needs, whether it be adaptive golf clubs or cutting edge SoloRider golf carts.

Your Purchase, Sale, or Lease Can Support the Freedom Golf Association

At no cost to themselves, anyone who cares about including people with special needs in the game of golf can turn virtually any brokered real estate transaction into funding for Freedom Golf Association. For example, the purchase or sale of a $300,000 home can result in about $1,300 of free funding. Through IIC’s free platform, you can make arrangements with an agent you already have in mind while supporting the FGA’s mission of providing all people with disabilities, a chance to be active and play golf. Or you can use IIC to find and choose among real estate agents that are appropriate for the specifics of your residential or commercial real estate needs. Ready to start?
