As a member of Investing In Communities®, Helping Paws Foundation can receive funding as a result of any brokered real estate transaction – home sales, home purchases, or commercial leases. As more supporters use this platform, before engaging a real estate agent, Helping Paws will have more resources to continue helping military families and their pets.

Mission

The Helping Paws Foundation helps keep military families united with their pets by providing low and no-cost veterinary care for troops and veterans in need. Our troops are willing to pay the ultimate price, but all too often, they can’t afford to pay costly veterinary bills. Without this 501(c)(3), a lot of vets would face the heartbreaking decision of premature relinquishment or, worse yet, economic euthanasia. Helping Paws says it’s an honor to be able to give back to the brave men and women who sacrifice so much. They currently operate out of three animal hospitals in San Diego County. It’s the largest military concentration in the world, but they know more people need this resource. Ultimately, they hope to expand to more participating vet clinics to be able to help military pets across America.

History

Dr. Craig J. Mohnacky, DVM, started Helping Paws in 2013. The focus was on giving free spays/neuters to military families, and it was a huge benefit to the community.

The nonprofit hired an Executive Director in early 2018, and she transformed the program to ensure they were serving military families most in need with critical care for their fur babies. Now, they focus on saving and treating severely injured and ill pets that belong to service members and veterans.

Since it started, Helping Paws has directly helped more than 2,600 military pets. Pets offer unconditional love to veterans with Post Traumatic Stress, TBI, depression and anxiety. They also provide stability for families during deployments. By removing financial burdens, Helping Paws empower troops and veterans to make healthy choices for their pets. Local troops count on Helping Paws, but their resources are limited. They need your support to continue Helping Vets by Saving Pets.

Programs

Helping Paws helps keep military families united with their pets when they cannot afford to do so. “Veterans have told us that they would have taken their life if we were not able to help.”

In addition to preserving that important bond, Helping Paws collaborates with countless other veteran-serving nonprofits and animal welfare groups. That enables them to offer additional resources to vets who need help in other areas.

Make Your Next Real Estate Transaction Make a Difference
