Your Future Real Estate Transaction can Open Up Opportunities for Lake County Kids
As a member of Investing In Communities®, Mothers Trust Foundation (MTF) can receive funding as a result of any brokered real estate transaction – home sales, home purchases, or commercial leases. A typical sale of a $300,000 home results in about $1,350 of funding. There is no cost to the buyer or seller, and they can work with any agent- as long as arrangements are made first through this page. As more supporters use this platform, before engaging a real estate agent, MTF will have more resources to continue advocating for better cycling conditions in Illinois.

About Mothers Trust Foundation
MTF exists to champion the needs of children by eliminating barriers so that each child will have access to opportunities that foster achievement, cultivate a vision to succeed and be empowered to reach their full potential.
Medical costs can go unpaid due to gaps in the system such as only one pair of eyeglasses provided to a child per year and often with a 3-6-month wait. A parent’s temporary job loss, illness or any unexpected expenses can become a tremendous burden to a low-income family. Unstable housing or the lack of basic needs like clothing, can impact the confidence and development of a child.
This assistance is intended to enable youth and families to cope with crisis, overcome obstacles, take advantage of educational or other benefits which enrich lives and reduce the likelihood of school failure and chronic dependency. MTF’s efforts include identifying needs, raising awareness of the existing gaps in support, engaging stakeholders to take action, and collaborating with other community resources to maximize positive outcomes.
The program addresses the existing gaps in safety net programs and lack of available funds for many of the essential needs of children and families living in or near poverty. There are about 46,000 persons living below the federal poverty line in Lake County, Illinois.
History of MTF
Barbara Monsor started MTF 22 years ago. The idea originated as she visited with a group of friends around her kitchen table with the thought that their children have so much, while so many others are in immediate, critical need. Barbara saw the problems schools, social workers, and students faced due to the lack of funding to meet critical and emergency needs of children. Through Mothers Trust Foundation, she created a connection between willing donors and the social workers who see the needs firsthand. This connection enables social workers to request support for children of families lacking funds to buy clothing, pay school fees, and cover other essential expenses needed to be successful in school and/or life. Barbara is the mother of six, grandmother of eight and continues to serve as an active board member and volunteer for Mothers Trust.
How Grants are Made
Service Requests must be submitted by social workers, psychologists, court officers or other qualified professionals who know the child and can attest to the need and benefit that will result from our assistance. Requests can be made on behalf of any child who is age birth through 21 living in Lake County, IL. We meet needs which are time-limited and cannot be met from other sources.
Every Wednesday morning service meetings are conducted with staff and committee to hear requests and approve or decline. Approved requests are usually delivered on within 48 hours.
