Peace and Justice Network of San Joaquin County

Buying, Selling, & Leasing Supports Local, Nonprofit Media

The Peace and Justice Network (PJN) of San Joaquin County is a nonprofit media and social activism network based in Stockton, California, committed to fighting for justice, peace and the environment in this county at the north end of the San Joaquin valley. As a member of Investing In Communities, PJN  can receive funding from the real estate transactions of its supporters, at no cost to the supporter or to PJN. The more supporters that use this free platform before engaging a real estate agent, the more resources the Peace and Justice Network of San Joaquin County has to advocate for justice, peace, and the environment.

Since it was incorporated in 1984, the Peace and Justice Network has carried on the culture of protest and activism that has been prominent in San Joaquin County since the 1960s. PJN supports local art with free community movie nights and art fundraisers. Most significantly, the Peace and Justice Network publishes and distributes a complimentary, private newspaper, Connections. Additionally, they host a local internet radio show, The Voice of Stockton, support and coordinate local Earth Day celebrations and the Peaceful Holiday Fair, and keep the doors of its John Morearty Peace Center open to the San Joaquin County community for meetings and events.

Connections Newspaper

10 times a year since 1986, PJN has faithfully offered an alternative news source for San Joaquin County, Connections. The newspaper accepts submissions from readers and local residents,  focused on local issues and events related to the issues of peace, justice and environmental health.

The Voice of Stockton

PJN’s The Voice of Stockton radio program was formed to fill the gaps left by mainstream media outlets. This online radio program provides information that is relevant to residents of San Joaquin County with regard to the core values of peace, justice and environmentalism. Additionally, the show seeks to:

  • Educate its listeners;
  • Promote and highlight local musicians;
  • Cover local sports and community events; and
  • Bring the people of Stockton together to discuss important local issues.

The John Morearty Peace Center

Communities are strengthened when they stand together. The John Morearty Peace Center is a facility space shared by the Peace and Justice Network of San Joaquin County with other local organizations, such as the San Joaquin International Filmfest. The peace center hosts a wide variety of events and meetings that provide an opportunity for the community to unite and make a difference.
